Operation Adopt a Block - TBD
In order to achieve sustainable and long term crime reduction within our communities, Mission Area personnel will channel its efforts into energizing, organizing and activating community resources in order to enhance the crime reduction efforts of the LAPD.   Simply put, our efforts will be focused on increasing the amount of citizen observers, i.e. eyes and ears willing and able to observe and report suspicious, and/or criminal activity in their neighborhoods. 

 In order to jump start this effort Mission Area will host “Operation Adopt a Block” on August 20, 2009.  The goal of the Operation Adopt a Block will be to energize, educate and organize citizens to observe and report suspicious and criminal activity and establish “crime free zones” during a predetermined operational period.  Our goal is to recruit a minimum of 80 citizen observers from the community to volunteer their time and effort and participate in neighborhood watch activities for a specified operational period in identified areas/Reporting Districts in each basic car area in Mission Area.  There will be a particular focus during this operation on crime prevention and prevention of residential burglaries.
